My Chemical Romance's Frank Iero reveals 'Conventional Weapons' project

Image
UPDATE: September 14, 2012 @ 12:00 p.m. EST   The info in my original post (below) was posted a BIT early; so, I had removed it...until now. My Chemical Romance guitarist Frank Iero has posted an official blog entry explaining the band's upcoming Conventional Weapons project and the story behind the band's Pre- Danger Days "scrapped" album .  The project will include a series of releases, I'm assuming at least in part on 7" vinyl by the store listing from yesterday (below), of never-before-heard MCR songs from the band's 2008-2009 "scrapped album." There will be 5 releases, starting in October, each with 2 never-before-heard songs. Iero said of the project: "Recently we had a band meeting, we ended up talking about the past, and together we listened to those songs we created almost 4 years ago. We discussed the the way those songs made us feel, how they led us to where we are now and what the fate of those songs should be. H...

"The Archive:" A Man and the Death of his Passion

Continuing the theme of my previous post , I stumbled across this heartbreaking documentary via Amanda Palmer's twitter . The Archive , a short documentary directed by Sean Dunne gives an emotional look into the passion of Paul Mawhinney, who boasts well over a million records in his archival collection that he has been collecting his entire life. Mawhinney comments on the changes in the music industry, calling it "a sad commentary on the times" that "nobody gives a damn" about all the albums, some of them rare to the point of being publicly unavailable, that he has accumulated. The Archive from Sean Dunne on Vimeo . Though this documentary comments on an older form of music's being neglected and forgotten, I can see this pattern continuing with the rise of the digital music world. I grew up on cassettes and CDs, and find it hard now to find peers who still prefer CDs to their digital downloads and the sound of their MP3 players. We must step back and loo...

Image
Look what Cassie just got in the mail: Side A: Side B: That, my droogies, is my limited edition Watchmen vinyl that came three days early and which you can still order here ! Now that you've seen it, you know you want it, right? This happy occasion brings me to something I feel everyone should know. Lean in, a little closer-- okay. If you pre-order, there's a chance you'll get things early. Shocking, right? Every time I have pre-ordered a My Chemical Romance CD/ anything it has gotten to me at least a day before the release date, which is always a joyous moment just as my moment with my Watchmen vinyl was. So, pre-order often and live a happier life. I'm off to try to find a record player somewhere on campus. XoXo c.

Pre-Order Watchmen Vinyl

Image
Beautiful, isn't it? That 12", my friends, is what I just pre-ordered from the My Chemical Romance online store for a mere $11.99 ($16.52 with shipping). That price is a true bargain for the following reasons: °There will only be 3,000 copies of this special edition vinyl. °It comes with artwork from the film. °Epicosity factor = 4,000,000,000 The 12" picture disk has two sides and two tracks. Side A is My Chemical Romance's cover of "Desolation Row" while Side B contains the track "Prison Fight" another from the score of the movie. You honestly can't pass this one up, can you? Pre-order Here! If you don't want to pre-order, you can also wait until January 27th, when the vinyl will be released, but why would you do that when it's on sale now? Do as I say and as I do, readers. XoXo c.

"I Brought You My Bullets, You Brought Me Your Love" - MCR On Vinyl!

My Chemical Romance's former record label, Eyeball Records is set to release the band's debut album on vinyl February 3rd. Like the recent vinyl for the band's "Three Cheers for Sweet Revenge" ( Warner-Reprise ), this vinyl will be printed on what the website describes as "Fiery Red Vinyl," but a select amount will be issued in on white vinyl. You can check out product information by clicking here. As for that "Three Cheers for Sweet Revenge" vinyl, go buy it now if you haven't already! I mean, RIGHT NOW! It comes with an MCR sticker, a stencil, and reprints of original, handwritten lyrics to "...Revenge" songs, which is my favorite part. Plus, it's on transparent, bright red vinyl, and looks really sweet when you play it. See: You can still order the "...Revenge" vinyl from MCR's online store, just click here. XoXo c.

Watchmen Update: "Desolation Row"!

Source: Kerrang! My Chemical Romance will release their cover of the Bob Dylan classic, Desolation Row' on February 9 through Warner Bros. The song is taken from the soundtrack to the upcoming big screen adaptation of Alan Moore and Dave Gibbons' cult comic book series The Watchmen. The track will be released as a digital download and as a limited edition 12" vinyl. The 12" will be limited to just 3,000 copies and will be backed with an extract from the film's score. In related news, the full film soundtrack will be released in the UK on February 23 while the with the film itself will follow on March 6. You lucky English, you. I will keep an eye out for definite US news on the single. Brits tend to get everything a day earlier than us. XoXo c.

Becoming Little Miss Slack-y Pants.

So, about that promise I made to blog more frequently, and moreover - to even match the massive amount of blogging My Chemical Romance now do on their website... Yea, I lied. You can go ahead and call me a liar. Excuses are lame, but I have them. The week I made that promise, my father suffered a heart-attack, then I got super-busy. Currently, I have writer's block, and have been focusing on my art and "creative writing" as a means to focus my emotions. I am also busy helping pick the new round of MCRmy Medics- an anonymous group who work through e-mail and the My Chemical Romance street-team to help those who are in emotional need. This time around I'm even more involved with the medics than I have been in the past. I couldn't be happier about my position, because I love helping, but it does take a lot of my time and attention as it should. Despite my other obligations, I will pick things back up on here. I have a list of topics I have been planning, and -not to ...

My Chemical Romance's "Three Cheers for Sweet Revenge" on VINYL!

Image
Four years have passed since "Three Cheers for Sweet Revenge" My Chemical Romance's first major label CD was released on Warner-Reprise records. It is noted for being the album that really brought My Chem to the forefront of music with their first major-label-released single, "I'm Not Okay (I Promise)" followed by the widely popular "Helena" and "The Ghost of You". To celebrate the album's great success, the band is re-releasing it on special-edition red vinyl and adding a handwritten lyric sheet, artwork that did not make it to the CD, and even a fancy-pants gun stencil! I, for one, am majorly stoked on this release, because this is the CD that I grew up with, in a way. 2004 and 2005 were really huge years in my musical life, and this CD was there for me during those years, introducing me to a new kind of culture and music, and the band that ultimately changed my life. "Three Cheers for Sweet Revenge" has been there for me...
