Taking Back Sunday "New Again" Review

Image
New Again Taking Back Sunday Warner-Reprise Release Date: June 2nd, 2009 Sounds like: TBS all grown up. Tracklisting 1. New Again 2. Sink Into Me 3. Lonely, Lonely 4. Summer, Man 5. Swing 6. Where My Mouth Is 7. Cut Me Up Jenny 8. Catholic Knees 9. Capital M-E 10. Carpathia 11. Everything Must Go In several recent interviews, Taking Back Sunday have been bombarded with the ever-dreaded fan question: "Why don't you write the kind of songs you used to?" . When those questioners listen to "New Again", I believe their question will be answered better than it could be in the words of the band members. Fans expecting another "Tell All your Friends" may be sorely disappointed by "New Again", but certainly should be neither disappointed nor surprised. From "...Friends" to TBS's previous release, "Louder Now" the band has gradually evolved, and "New Again" seems to be just another step of natural progression in that...

Taking Back Sunday, Envy On The Coast, and Anberlin REVIEW

::EDIT:: Thanks so much for featuring this on the Taking Back Sunday myspace blog and on the TBS main page !! I am so grateful! -c. What's the best way to start a set? Taking Back Sunday certainly are logical when they start at the beginning, with "You Know How I Do", the first track from their debut album, "Tell All Your Friends"- certainly an ace choice for the crowd that gathered for them in Cincinnati on May 15th: a crowd that appreciated the old tunes with fierce intensity and reveled in the new, moshed with all their might to the well-known as well as to the obscure. Taking Back Sunday hit the jackpot with this audience and they knew it, especially when we the crowd, as a screaming mass, yelled back the lyrics to their songs louder than they had been sung to us, causing lead singer Adam Lazzara to grin, praise us appreciatively, shake his head in amazement, and even topple over from his crouching position saying, "I'm supposed to be up here loo...

Taking Back Sunday hype "New Again"

So, I've seen bands do some pretty cheesy stuff to advertise their releases, but this-- this takes the cheesecake. Looks like a sweet package, though, and what I have heard of the album thus far is pretty epic. TBS's video for the first single ("Sink into Me") from their upcoming album "New Again" premieres today, so keep your eyes open and on MTV! As I said in a previous entry, the video involves the band slipping in black goo (Matchbok Romance "Monsters," anyone?) and sinking into a stage. Sounds messy and delightful! XoXo c. Side note: 4 Days until I see these guys live!!

Taking Back Sunday "Sink Into Me" Preview!

Curious what Taking Back Sunday's upcoming "New Again" is going to sound like? Well, you have a couple options: A.) 703-286-2371 You can call this number and hear a snippet of the first single from the album, "Sink Into Me" or B.)You can check out this video from MTV News from the set of the video-shoot for the song. The video was shot on April 8th in Brooklyn, New York. A casting call went out to fans, asking for their participation in the video, so there is a whole other element that this sneak-peak is hiding from us. In the casting call, it warned that extras would have to be willing to get covered in that same black goo in which the band is wallowing. Yum. XoXo c.

Hello, readers! I just wanted to let you all know that I will be leaving for Florida tonight and will not be able to grace you with my bloggy presence for a while. Taking Back Sunday show reviews also with navigation! Speaking of TBS-- this week has been pretty huge for them! Not only did the band announce dates for their Spring tour with Envy on the Coast and Anberlin, but also gave fans a new "definite" release date for New Again : June 2nd. Oooohhhh excitement! Taking Back Sunday and Envy On The Coast [Part Two]

In my previous TBS/EOTC blog , I described the trials endured before the show, and now I’ll get to the real meat (soy, of course) of the concert experience, the performances themselves. So, let me set the scene for you again: it is December 12th and the show is the Louisville, Kentucky stop on Taking Back Sunday’s winter tour with Envy on the Coast. Frontier(s) First on the bill was a local band, Frontier(s), which also happens to be the title of disastrous French horror film I was recently hoodwinked into viewing- that the names are connected, I am unsure. The set-up time prior to their performance seemed to drag on forever, probably because it did. For whatever reason- it may have been that the crowd was let in too early or that the venue was having technical difficulties, or a member of Frontier(s) was late- there was an unusually long wait before the first band began playing. And the crowd felt it. Impatience was the vibe among fans as the locals performed; the mood wasn’t set well...
