My Chemical Romance's Return — Frequently Asked Questions

Image
As the My Chemical Romance return continues to unfold, I am creating this space answer some of the more common questions floating around the fandom.  I will update this as new questions arise. And, knowing MCR, we'll have far more questions than answers coming our way! Stay tuned! Are My Chemical Romance going to tour?  As of today (Friday, November 8), the band have announced two shows and two festival appearances. There has been no official word on a tour, but at this juncture, it seems safe to assume more dates are to come. The currently announced shows are as follows: December 20, 2019 — Shrine Expo Hall — Los Angeles, CA — Return Show March 20, 2020 — Melbourne Showgrounds — Melbourne, AUS — Download Festival March 21, 2020 — Parramatta Park — Sydney, AUS. — Download Festival March 25, 2020 — The Outer Fields At Western Springs — Auckland, NZ Ma...

My Chemical Romance release first post-return full band photo

Image
This image of My Chemical Romance was captured on November 15. It is first photo released of the full band together since their return announcement on Halloween. Perhaps the gravity of this isn't coming across. Here is a photo of My Chemical Romance, an active unit of four members identified under one banner, doing the same thing in the same place for the same purpose. This isn't a circle of the four former members of MCR. This is MCR. The world makes a lot more sense these days, Killjoys. XoXo —c.

Dissecting My Chemical Romance's Return Imagery

Image
My new AltPress article explores some of the visual themes of MCR's Return. Check it out! Since My Chemical Romance ’s return announcement, the band have remained relatively quiet. We’ve gotten a couple new show and festival appearance announcements, but fans are absolutely desperate for some clue as to what else might be going on below the surface. For every big MCR moment, the band have found ways to be cryptic and keep us all guessing, so we’re taking the very few images we have available to us to try to figure out what else the band may be up to. Here are a few things we’ve discovered so far. Please take these with a grain of salt; as, MCR have proven time and again that they are five steps ahead of the world and that nothing is quite what it seems. THE STATUE The statue featured in the official “Return” imagery is not new. In fact, it has existed for more than a century in Bologna, Italy. The piece is titled “Cella Magnani” and was sculpted by Pasquale Rizzoli in 1906...

My Chemical Romance Rumors & Responsibility

Image
I try to be very deliberate in the conversations I choose to have and encourage within the MCRmy. It's something I've taken very seriously for a very long time, as anyone who has read this blog is, no doubt, aware. So, when the internet at large, massive news outlets included, lost its collective shit about perceived changes to the My Chemical Romance website and uploads to the band's official YouTube channel, drawing a very flimsy line between what would appear to be some regular web presence housekeeping and the band's "possible reunion," it was hard to know what to say or how to address it in a significant way... There's a feeling I have about these recurrent reunion rumors that I have been grappling to understand. It makes me both roll my eyes and become pained. It's that feeling I'm going to attempt to work out in writing here, because my actual response to the rumors is simple: Are you fucking kidding me? If My Chemical Romance comes b...

#MCRmyForLife - International My Chemical Romance Day 2013

Image
I hope everyone has had a great International My Chemical Romance Day. This year was kind of surreal for me (and I'm sure for many others, as well.) I got to celebrate in a pretty huge way by writing an IMCRDarticle for the magazine for which I work now to highlight the MCRmy and this awesome way we band together every year. That's pretty crazy on its own, considering just a couple years ago, I was standing outside the venue where I worked press at Warped Tour just last week with the members of the band themselves. A person very dear to me pointed to the the magazine I call home's editor that night and said, "You should work for him." Never in my wildest dreams could I have imagined I actually would. It’s so strange how things in my life constantly come back to MCR . I think it's because of the profound impact they have had on my life. It's just engrained. I have so much to be thankful for—the MCRmy, the band, the inspiring world we buil...

"You Cannot Destroy Me:" A reflection on life and My Chemical Romance

Image
I couldn’t find words for this for so long. I think I’ve finally accepted that it’s because I’ve said all that I need to say already. I’m not interested in sweeping statements or writing a memorial piece. For the past 8-and-a-half years, I’ve spent nearly every waking moment living My Chemical Romance , honoring and praising them daily. At first, I wanted to do those memorial things. Finding some perfect way to sum up and honor something I’d been actively immersed in and loudly appreciative of for years was impossible, because—as I’ve realized—I’ve already done it. I have no regrets, nor confessions nor treasures I feel the need to share. I searched for the right words to suspend the magic that surrounds My Chemical Romance, and they don’t exist. What does is the music that awakens and stirs it, makes it swirl around and engulf us again and again, forever. It’s in that feeling—those moments of possession at the live shows, the smell of honey and powder, crossing countl...

The live album was recorded while the band were on My Chemical Romance 's 2011 World Contamination Tour. Toro also mixed My Chemical Romance...

My Chemical Romance Transcripts: My newest MCR Project

Image
mcr-transcripts.tumblr.com Loving something and being unable to access it sucks...a lot. That is a lesson I have learned from having limited Internet access (as you've seen me whine about here every summer and winter break) when I am at home. For a long time I--and many others--have had to deal with absolutely aching for news and information about My Chemical Romance while being restricted from it either by bad connections, language barriers or technology that simply does not aide us. So, also for a long time, I had been planning to start an interview transcripts blog to help broaden the availability and findability of MCR information. Now that it has been populated with some content, I am sharing it here! I will let the mission statement I posted on the blog speak to my goals and reasons behind the new project: With a news blog and an active Twitter chat why, you would be justified in asking, would I create yet another MCR project? It’s simple: information access . ...
