Photograph of Gerard and Mikey Way to be featured in traveling art show to raise Parkinson's Disease funds and awareness

Image
When photographer Allan Amato posted , "Just wrapped a lovely shoot experience with My Chemical Romance in old man pajamas..." MCR fans were--to say the least--intrigued. It has now been revealed that said shoot was for the benefit of the organization Illuminate Parkinsons , which aims to raise awareness about Parkinson's Disease and funds for charities. The photograph (above) of Gerard Way and Mikey Way is one of many by Amato that will be featured in a traveling Illuminate Parkinsons gallery show to raise awareness for Young Onset Parkinsons. Prints of the photo will also be sold to benefit the cause. Check out Illuminate Parkinson's Kickstarter page to contribute! XoXo c. Thank You! (Signed MCR Shirt Giveaway to Come!)

Image
Thanks to donations from blog-readers, I have been able to purchase two of the MASScanvas/ My Chemical Romance for-charity t-shirts! In addition to those, MASScanvas sent me a rare print of the "We've Got The Bomb" shirt signed by all four MCR members! I hope to do a giveaway of those shirts for my readers as soon as possible. Unfortunately, I do not have the funds for shipping just yet, but I'm working on it. The shirts will be given away eventually, though. I promise. In the meantime, I just wanted to say "thank you" to those who donated. I'm so happy you have given me a way to give back that I would not have had on my own. My next goal is to purchase one of the My Chemical Romance Shirts For A Cure t-shirts, because they are a bit cheaper than the ones from MASScanvas and #SingItForJapan . Recently, Gerard Way designed an exclusive White Violin (from his comic, The Umbrella Academy ) shirt for Shirts For A Cure, which was sold at New...

Donation Button Added for MCR-supported Charities and Blog Fund

Image
UPDATE: September 27 @ 12:37 a.m. I just reached enough in donations for my first purchase from MASScanvas, which means $2 will go to the Make-A-Wish Foundation thanks to you guys! You rule! ORIGINAL POST: September 26 @ 4:50 p.m. If you look to the right, you will see a new blog feature. I have added a Paypal Donate button to my blog, mostly for the purpose of raising money for MCR-related charities. Over the few years of this blog's lifespan, I have thought of a few ways to monetize my content and to make sure I remain able to provide it. That doesn't take much, though, and I'd rather give than take. So, inspired by the success of a UK-based MCRmy group that was recently featured on MCR's site, I decided to set up my own fundraising efforts. If you choose to donate: 90% will go toward the purchase of #SINGItForJapan or MCR's MASScanvas charity t-shirts. Said shirts will be given away as a thank-you to my readers through this site. The other 10%, wi...

Cassie's Recommendations: Version Six

1. My Chemical Romance at iTunes Festival On July 9, My Chemical Romance appeared at London's Roundhouse as a part of the 31-day-spanning iTunes Festival . The performance streamed in full through iTunes and is still available to watch there, but -- luckily for us -- MCR fans are pros at streamripping by now, so you can watch it through the hour-and-a-half video embedded above. I know almost two hours sounds like an intimidating amount of time to dedicate to watching a concert online, but My Chem's iTunes Fest performance is one of the best I have seen from them in years. Vocalist Gerard Way, toward the middle of their set, had proclaimed it a magical night. And it truly was. 2. VH1's Do Something Awards VH1 and DoSomething.Org are honoring artists and other personalities who have donated their time and resources to helping others in the 2011 Do Something Awards Winners will be announced on August 18 at 9 p.m. EST on VH1. UPDATE: July 30, 2011 @ 9:45 p.m. You can now Vote for your favorite designs! The voting period will last until August 7 and winners will be announced on August 18. Good luck to all who entered! Which design do you hope wins? ____ ORIGINAL POST: July 1, 2011 @ 5:48 p.m. My Chemical Romance alongside MASScanvas , a t-shirt design company that works with artists and charities, have issued a t-shirt design challenge to benefit the Make-A-Wish Foundation. The challenge, should you choose to accept it, is to submit a "Good vs. Evil"-themed design by July 22. MCR vocalist Gerard Way advises designers, "I think what makes a submission better than another is, firstly, the originality and the idea most of all [and] being fearless about it-- doing the really hard stuff, doing the dangerous stuff, doing the stuff that may ruin your chances. Don't always take the safe way out." "Submit your art in any style you feel will meet the challenge," Wa...

Help My Chemical Romance Help Mississippi: Bid on a Signed Drumhead

Image
As those of you who read the recent fan report from Atlanta know, My Chemical Romance generously donated a signed drumhead to Brandi, the owner of My Chemical Freak , for her to auction for disaster relief in Mississippi. As her report reads: I am from the area in north Mississippi that was ravaged by the EF-5 tornado on April 27, 2011. Hundreds of people died, even more were injured and thousands are now without a home at all. The storm didn’t just mess up their homes, but it completely wiped them off the face of the earth. My town has spent the last few weeks working day and night trying to get help, food and shelter for our neighbors who survived the storm. When Brandi asked if she could auction the signed poster she got at her meet-and-greet, MCR did her one better and donated the above pictured drumhead. It is being auctioned via Facebook; as, many who were interested in bidding could not create eBay or Paypal accounts for it. To bid,"Like" He...

Bid on a Guitar Signed by My Chemical Romance & Support Animals

Image
In the past, My Chemical Romance have held auctions that support causes , and they are at it again in support of Best Friends Animal Society , a very fitting charity for the band of animal-lovers. You can bid on the guitar pictured to the left, which comes with a letter of authenticity, by going HERE . Best Friends Animal Society works toward the ultimate goal of eliminating homeless animals by finding loving homes for animals that are often considered unworthy of adoption by shelters and society. Their main philosophy is "kindness to animals builds a better world for all of us." This cause is definitely up the alley of My Chemical Romance, who frequently post pictures of their dogs on their main website's blogs and on twitter. Bassist Mikey Way centers many of his twitter posts around his dog, Piglet; Lead Guitarist Ray Toro refers to his dog Bauer as his "son", and Frank Iero's twitter bio reads "i pick up dog shit all day long, but at night...at n...
