Taking Back Sunday, Envy On The Coast, and Anberlin REVIEW

Image
::EDIT:: Thanks so much for featuring this on the Taking Back Sunday myspace blog and on the TBS main page !! I am so grateful! -c. What's the best way to start a set? Taking Back Sunday certainly are logical when they start at the beginning, with "You Know How I Do", the first track from their debut album, "Tell All Your Friends"- certainly an ace choice for the crowd that gathered for them in Cincinnati on May 15th: a crowd that appreciated the old tunes with fierce intensity and reveled in the new, moshed with all their might to the well-known as well as to the obscure. Taking Back Sunday hit the jackpot with this audience and they knew it, especially when we the crowd, as a screaming mass, yelled back the lyrics to their songs louder than they had been sung to us, causing lead singer Adam Lazzara to grin, praise us appreciatively, shake his head in amazement, and even topple over from his crouching position saying, "I'm supposed to be up here loo...

Sometimes in Life...

Image
Sometimes in life, one is so proud of the music one has scrobbled on last.fm that she just does not want to listen to anything else and ruin it. I give you my brilliant listening of last night-- a masterpiece I like to call: "Cassie at the Age of Twelve" Ah, there-- now it's preserved forever and I can go back to listening to music. Sorry for the lack of recent updates. This quarter has kept me amazingly busy. This month is sure to be a huge one for this blog, though, because I have two shows to attend, and those two shows happen to be within the same week. Busy, busy, busy... Senses Fail Show Review [PART ONE]

Image
Artists: Senses Fail, The HiFi Horizon, The Promise Estate Date: March 12, 2009 Venue: The Basement: Columbus, Ohio Long-overdue is the perfect adjective for this review; I would say. I apologize for the extreme lateness, but here it is, as I promised. The day of March 12th was filled with much anticipation as I struggled through my Philosophy and Visual Communication classes, watching the clock for the moment I would be released and could be on my way to Columbus. This wasn't a show for which I needed to line up 20+ hours ahead of time, so it wasn't at all stressful when my friend and I arrived at The Basement and the entire line had already made its way into the small, crowded venue. The Basement itself isn't a place where one necessarily needs to wait a ridiculously long time in line to procure a decent spot in the crowd (to obtain tickets that have yet to be distributed; however, you BETTER be there early). See, my goal when waiting in line for a ridiculous amount of...

News While I was on Break!

Sorry for all the downtime-- this thing will be up and happening again very soon, especially considering all the juicy fun I have been receiving via text message from the twitter accounts of My Chemical Romance. Over break, I found that Gerard Way is desperately searching for a 1979 Trans Am, and he means it. Don't believe me? Just go to My Chem's website and see for yourself. If you guys find any sweet cars (he prefers silver with red interior in the California area), send him an @Reply (@gerardway) on twitter, and it is likely that he will get back to you. Speaking of Gerard and Twitter-- he let slip some HUGE news to fans last night: he is currently working on a new comic series that is "very different from [The Umbrella Academy]." Apparently, the new comic will be "co-written with a partner." Hmm. Whom that could be is a complete mystery right now; that is, until Gerard lets something more slip. This doesn't mean the end of TUA, though. He later as...

Taking Back Sunday and Envy On The Coast [Part Three] (Pictures)

Image
Finally, my internet is fast enough to give thought to posting pictures. So, here are a few from the Taking Back Sunday show on December 12th in Louisville, KY. Read Part One of my TBS/EOTC blogs here Read Part Two of my TBS/EOTC blogs here I apologize for the quality of these pictures, as; they were taken old-school style with a Kodak disposable camera. Ha-ha! I'm very old school, as you know. Adam appearing to be falling. Adam doing the old sing-and-dance while Fazzi does the old sing-and-guitar. My scanner cut off the poor guy's head. Adam hiding his face. The Matts- Fazzi and Rubano Eddie offering the dehydrated mass in front of him water. A bad-quality picture of Adam that I felt I needed to upload, because he's looking at my camera. Adam aaaaannnddd... Adam again. Those are only a few of the pictures that I took, but most were far too awful to put up here. The venue's lights were behind the band-- no spotlights, so the lighting was pretty unfortunate for camera-w...
