Dissecting My Chemical Romance's Return Imagery

My new AltPress article explores some of the visual themes of MCR's Return. Check it out! Since My Chemical Romance ’s return announcement, the band have remained relatively quiet. We’ve gotten a couple new show and festival appearance announcements, but fans are absolutely desperate for some clue as to what else might be going on below the surface. For every big MCR moment, the band have found ways to be cryptic and keep us all guessing, so we’re taking the very few images we have available to us to try to figure out what else the band may be up to. Here are a few things we’ve discovered so far. Please take these with a grain of salt; as, MCR have proven time and again that they are five steps ahead of the world and that nothing is quite what it seems. THE STATUE The statue featured in the official “Return” imagery is not new. In fact, it has existed for more than a century in Bologna, Italy. The piece is titled “Cella Magnani” and was sculpted by Pasquale Rizzoli in 1906...

"I’m definitely not taking a break" - Gerard Way talks future musical ventures

Music , former My Chemical Romance frontman and newly announced AP 300 cover star Gerard Way talks about his post-MCR musical work. While remaining vague about the direction his work is taking ("I’m just trying to figure out exactly what I’m supposed to do. I take a cue from the universe and I think about that pretty deeply and go with my gut 100 percent."), the singer expressed that he's "usually up until a minimum of 2 a.m. writing music" these days. What he does reveal is that he does not foresee his musical works becoming a solo project. "I’ve never seen myself as a solo guy. Some of my favorite artists, like Nick Cave and Tom Waits, are so far beyond me right now and I feel that if I was going to do something like what they do, I’d have to be a lot older and I’d need a lot more life experience.
