My Chemical Romance Digest: September 3-9

Image
Here's an outline of what's been going on in the My Chemical Romance world since my previous "MCR digest" post on September 2. ---- September 9 Mysterious Killjoys Twitter account, @GaryLevko , tweeted the following: Information leak. Valid sourceconfirming #Killjoys at #NYCC BLI to intercept and disarm before word gets out. Engage Scarecrow unit. — Gary Levko (@GaryLevko) September 9, 2012 Killjoy panel at this year's New York Comic Con? Sounds like it! I'll keep an eye open for more details as they come! September 7 Speaking of Killjoys, comic book artist Vasilis Lolos recently talked briefly about the MCR side of the Killjoys project with Comic Book Resources . Here's the excerpt where he discussed working with MCR on Killjoys : "...The only beacon of light was the My Chemical Romance Killjoys/Danger Days project, where they flew me over to Los Angeles to chat and develop art designs and storyboards. It was the best. I got a ne...

My Chemical Romance's Mikey Way talks Killjoys comic, The Mad Gear & Missile Kid and potential 'Life On The Murder Scene' follow-up

Image
"I don't think we're going to be making any more videos, but something is definitely on the horizon," My Chemical Romance bassist Mikey Way revealed in a recent interview by Coup De Main magazine . For fans who had hoped for "SING" 's massive cliffhanger to be resolved, that may be disappointing. However, Way goes on to say that "the Killjoys story is far from over," citing that the Killjoys comic by Shaun Simon and MCR vocalist Gerard Way may contain hints at what happened to Kobra Kid and co. and that, "it should be relatively soon that you should hear something [new] about the comic." Though, who knows what "relatively soon" means in MCR time. Related to the Danger Days world , when asked if the band has plans to release a full-length The Mad Gear and Missile Kid album, Way said: "Oh absolutely! That's something we talk about a lot, we just have to kinda find time. There's more songs we have th...

Danger Days: The True Lives of The Fabulous Killjoys is out now! Danger Days: The Creation as told through my blog... I guess the lead-up to today's release kind of started in early 2009 with the release of "Desolation Row" for Watchmen . After the men of MCR had been on a break since Spring of 2008, fans were able to get a brief glimpse of them immersed in the comic world the band has always so loved. My Chemical Romance Danger Days: The True Lives Of The Fabulous Killjoys Warner Brothers/Reprise November 22, 2010 Track-by-track 1. “Look Alive, Sunshine” The introduction to the album and the first time the listener hears narrator Dr. Death Defying's smooth Zone jargon. “Look Alive…” is exactly what you hear at the beginning of the “Na Na Na…” video , and – as you know if you have seen it – the two tracks blend perfectly. 2. “Na Na Na (Na Na Na Na Na Na Na Na Na)” The first single from the album and a song that many of you have probably already heard. Iero jokes that he is "contractually obliga...

My Chemical Romance Premier, Discuss New Single, "Na Na Na..."

Image
Today, both BBC Radio One and KROQ premiered My Chemical Romance's first single "Na Na Na (Na Na Na Na Na Na Na Na Na)" from their upcoming album Danger Days: The True Lives Of The Fabulous Killjoys with accompanying interviews in which band members briefly talked about the song and what it means to them and their upcoming album. Vocalist Gerard Way explained to BBC that "Na Na Na..." is the song that changed everything for the band and motivated them to start over. "Everything up to that point had felt like we had been in this kind of stasis, and as artist, stasis really equals death. It was so bad, the vibe wasn't good, and then "Na Na..." happened and all of the sudden there was this real, big intensity underneath us, and it was the momentum that we needed to dig deep and record another album. To me, the power of the song was how it propelled all of us, and that's kind of how we hope to propel everybody else." "It too...

Image
Reprise Records has confirmed to MTV.com that the previously-rumored and leaked album title for the upcoming MCR release, Danger Days: The True Lives of The Fabulous Killjoys , is -- indeed -- the final title of the album. The article also announces that Brendan O'Brien who was announced as the album's producer in May of 2009, was replaced during their recording by Rob Cavallo, producer of MCR's previous album The Black Parade . For anyone worried about a Killjoys-MCR connection, I made a post recently that demonstrates how the two are already connected. XoXo c.
