Unabridged Live Review/ Meet-And-Greet Recap: My Chemical Romance / December 15, 2010 / Chicago, IL

December 15th’s My Chemical Romance show at the House of Blues in Chicago was the first MCR show for which I have ever not lined up at least somewhat early. I can’t say I enjoy that not-line-waiting sensation because I do so love waiting and meeting people and feeling like I’ve been through a battle to get to the front row of a crowd. Shows become war-zones and one must fight for his or her survival. However, after figuring out that my meet-and-greet with the band would take place as the doors opened for the show made me a long wait could be fruitless. However, there were many who braved the cold and who eventually got to wait inside for that amazing chance to see MCR up-close, including Paloma Pérez , 20, who flew in from New Mexico just for the show! The night before, my friend and I had scoped out the venue layout and asked some questions about lining up of the security staff working at the House of Blues. We were surprised to find lone Paloma waiting outside at about 9:30 p....

AP Fall Ball Tour @ Newport Music Hall 9-26-09

Image
Columbus, Ohio was a ghastly, foggy sight yesterday when the AP Fall Ball tour was drearily welcomed to Newport Music Hall, but that didn't seem to darken the spirits of those waiting in the rain all day to see City Lights, You Me at Six, The Secret Handshake, Mayday Parade, and The Academy Is.... Unfortunately, many of those line-waiters who stuck it out in the rain all day had several roadblocks keeping them from their ultimate goal of reaching the front row. All shows put on by Promowest Productions venues in Columbus, which include The Basement, Newport, A&R Music Bar, and The LC, grant early admission to members of The Decibel Club . For a fee, members of this club receive such [unfair] advantages as: early admission to all shows at aforementioned venues, 4 free tickets to shows of their choosing, special pre-sale offers, and meet and greet opportunities. I would suggest fans who are going to be seeing one of their favorite bands at any of those Columbus venues to join tha...

Upcoming Shows!

Hey, guys! I know things have been pretty slow on here lately. I really need to pick up the pace, I know. If you followed my blog last year, you will know that I used to post daily, sometimes even multiple times a day, but the summer and dial-up internet interfered with that, and things haven't been quite the same this year, but they will be, oh yes, my friends. I have a few upcoming shows I'm attending, and you can expect full reviews of each. I promise! Shows: TONIGHT: Yo La Tengo @ Stuart's Opera House in Nelsonville, OH SATURDAY: The AP Fall Ball Tour @ Newport in Columbus, OH OCTOBER 23: Taking Back Sunday w/ Anberlin, fun., and Gavin Castleton @ Lifestyles Community Pavilion in Columbus, OH Are you ready, readers? Also, I want your input. I started a review for this summer's Warped tour, but I never got around to posting it. I WILL post it if you guys want to see it, though. Please leave me a comment and let me know what you think. In the meantime, check out so...

My Chemical Romance @ The Roxy! New Songs!

Image
As I mentioned in a prior blog, MCR played two intimate shows at The Roxy in Los Angeles this past weekend. Fans were treated to "two nights of face-shredding" as the marquee reads. Lucky fans who were either invited to the show personally or who won tickets from KROQ got to witness the band's first performance since their hiatus along with the debut of three new songs from the upcoming MCR album. "Kiss the Ring / LA Heavy" "Death Before Disco" And "The Drugs" The upbeat, swing-esque vibe of the new songs is reminiscent of past songs such as: "House of Wolves", "Headfirst for Halos", and "You Know What they Do to Guys Like Us in Prison". I can almost guarantee that, over the upbeat music, bleak lyrics are being sung as is signature for My Chemical Romance. Afterall, Gerard did describe "Death Before Disco" as "an anti-party song that you can party to." Get stoked, kids. Exci...

MCR & Reading and Leeds?

My Chemical Romance bassist Mikey Way has made another cryptic twitter post: "Reading/Leeds" Does this mean I should start saving for tickets to the UK? One can only hope this confusion is cleared soon so that fans such as I can stop spazzing. XoXo c. EDIT:: The official Reading and Leeds twitter has posted that My Chem's playing is a mere rumor. Everyone can breathe again.
