Image
Taking Back Sunday Taking Back Sunday Warner Bros. Records June 28, 2011 TRACKLISTING 1. El Paso 2. Faith (When I Let You Down) 3. Best Places to Be a Mom 4. Sad Savior 5. Who Are You Anyway? 6. Money (Let It Go) 7. This Is All Now 8. It Doesn't Feel a Thing Like Falling 9. Since You're Gone 10. You Got Me 11. Call Me In the Morning _______ Rating: 7/10 Key Tracks: "This Is All Now," "Best Places to be a Mom," "Money (Let It Go)" ______ Last March, Taking Back Sunday’s line-up took the least expected turn. Matt Rubano, their bassist of seven years, and Matt Fazzi, their guitarist for the short New Again era, were suddenly out. I doubt a single fan expected then that those members would be replaced by Shaun Cooper and John Nolan, the bassist and guitarist/vocalist respectively, from TBS’s Victory Records debut Tell All Your Friends . It wasn’t an early April Fool’s joke as many fans had assumed. The old TBS ...

My Swagger Has a First Name _______ Rating: 8.5/10 Key Tracks: "If You Think This Song Is About You, It Probably Is," "Graveyard Dancing" & "Laminated E.T. Animal" _______ To start the picking-apart of D.R.U.G.S. , the debut album from Destroy Rebuild Until God Shows (also D.R.U.G.S.), it is appropriate to introduce the parts that make up the whole of this much-needed savior-monster of a supergroup: Craig Owens, vocalist formerly of Chiodos ; Matt Good, guitarist and vocalist from From First To Last ; drummer Aaron Stern from Matchbook...

Album Review: Bayside - 'Killing Time'

Bayside Killing Time Wind-Up Records February 22, 2011 TRACKLISTING 1. Already Gone 2. Sick, Sick, Sick 3. Mona Lisa 4. It’s Not A Bad Little War 5. Sinking and Swimming on Long Island 6. Seeing Sound 7. The Wrong Way 8. On Love, On Life 9. The New Flesh 10. Killing Time _______ Rating : 7.5/10 Key Tracks : "Mona Lisa," "It's Not A Bad Little War" & "Sick, Sick, Sick" ______ Four tracks into Killing Time , I knew Bayside 's latest effort would be my favorite of their albums. Past releases have featured strong tracks as singles that were the few I kept around as iTunes library-worthy while I found the albums as whole works to grow monotonous by the end. However, Killing Time is an album from which I could see myself hanging onto more than a few tracks permanently. It doesn't hurt that it is a mere 10 tracks long and is able to hold interest through all. Bayside, while staying true to the sound of the e...

Track-By-Track Album Review: 'Danger Days: The True Lives Of The Fabulous Killjoys' - My Chemical Romance

Image
First of all, I want to preface this review with a huge thank you to Warner Brothers Records for being so kind as to fly me and Brandi from My Chemical Freak to California for the listening party. I can't thank you enough for inviting me to be a part of this event! That having been said... Do you have your rayguns ready, motherfuckers? Get in the car. Quick. My Chemical Romance Danger Days: The True Lives Of The Fabulous Killjoys Warner Brothers/Reprise November 22, 2010 Track-by-track 1. “Look Alive, Sunshine” The introduction to the album and the first time the listener hears narrator Dr. Death Defying's smooth Zone jargon. “Look Alive…” is exactly what you hear at the beginning of the “Na Na Na…” video , and – as you know if you have seen it – the two tracks blend perfectly. 2. “Na Na Na (Na Na Na Na Na Na Na Na Na)” The first single from the album and a song that many of you have probably already heard. I, having heard it in the context of the r...

"XO"- LeATHERMOUTH

Most of you who have any sort of attraction to my blog, will already know that Leathermouth is My Chemical Romance rhythm guitarist, Frank Iero's, side project. There's enough back-story to the release of this CD that I feel I need to digress in time to best describe it. A long-ass time ago, we My Chem fans started getting wind of Leathermouth: this band shrouded in mystery, always turning their backs in photographs or wearing masks. What were these guys hiding from the public? We soon found that it was a secret weapon in a 5'4" package about to be unleashed upon the world-- Frank Iero needed somewhere to let shit out, and thus Leathermouth lived. Demos of Leathermouth songs started cropping up on purevolume and random seedy websites, where they were abruptly downloaded at first by those who were interested in Frank Iero's musical pursuit and members of the Skeleton Crew family, then by others in the hardcore scene who caught on and realized something along the li...
