Taking Back Sunday loses bassist and guitarist, previous members rejoin

Image
Looks like it's true. TBS has reverted... Your thoughts? Original Post: Matt Rubano will no longer be playing bass for Taking Back Sunday, according to a post from the former bassist on the band's official page. Rubano played with the Long Island band for seven years. Along with the announcement came a twitter name change for the bassist as well as a strange pop-up picture on the band's Web site that appears to be an old photograph of the band (shown in this post). The band has not addressed Rubano's leaving further nor have they explained the picture. With all the out-of-nowhere strangeness, some fans speculate that it could be a lead-up to an April Fool's joke; as, the band members are known April Fool's Day pranksters. Though, nothing factually points to that assumption. To fans, Rubano says this: And to Taking Back Sunday fans, there isn't anything I can say that will express the way I feel toward you. It's literally been a dream come true and you

My Chemical Romance bassist reveals band in 'exciting final phase of recording'

Image
In a new blog post on My Chemical Romance's official Web site , bassist Mikey Way reveals that the band is in its "exciting final phase of recording" and that the members "are counting down the seconds to when [they] can finally share it with [the fans]." He also reveals that the album now has a a title, which he does not disclose. Of the new material, Way says it "changed [his] perception of what a My Chemical Romance song can do." and that "it pushes every envelope and blurs every single line more than anything [they] have ever done." Way also says that the band's official site and the official street team's site will be facing major changes, which has its dedicated and tight-knit street team admittedly nervous, but Way reassures fans in the final bit of his blog entry: "One day you will wake up, and nothing will ever be the same again, but it'll feel like an old friend. We love you guys more than you'll ever know.&q

My Chemical Romance's "new shit god-dammit." Finally, Good News.

Image
After receiving two dreadful updates from the band, My Chemical Romance fans are finally getting good news. In guitarist Frank Iero's newest blog post , he lets fans in on the upside of the recording of MCR's upcoming album. According to Iero, the new record "is coming along swimmingly." The new material or, as lead singer Gerard Way put it, "the new shit god-dammit" is what Iero describes as "far advanced" from the band's expectations. He says the new material has brought My Chemical Romance to a new level, adding "if it doesn't change the game, it isn't My Chemical Romance." With enough material for about 2-and-a-half records at this point, Iero points out that many of the songs we may have known about before this point may be replaced on the final product by the tracks from the band's inspired past month in the studio. "But who knows...down the line, some of the songs we wrote over the past year that don't ma

Gerard Way appears the cover of SPIN Magazine

Image
Spin cover scans have surfaced recently that display Gerard Way as the magazine's centerpiece. Spin 's Web site has yet to post details about the 3-cover special edition of the magazine, but my guess is that it is next month's issue. It appears that, in the issue, various musicians will be interviewing "their idols," Gerard's being Iggy Pop. I will post more details as they come. ::EDIT:: The issue is on newsstands now. In the article, Way reiterates that My Chemical Romance's upcoming release will be very anti-celebrity and describes it as "digital poison" with "More sex. More danger. More explosions. Right now." ::ADDITIONAL EDIT:: SPIN has posted the full article online as well as video interview with Gerard about his experience with the magazine. XoXo c.

Classic MCR Live Review: 2008 Theatre Tour | 4-18-08 | Chicago, IL

Image
Part 13 of 14 in my My Chemical Romance live reviews series. The second of the two Chicago dates I went to on My Chemical Romance's 2008 tour with Billy Talent, Drive By and (for Chicago exclusively) David Costa. This review was written at the time of the show and has received only light editing. --- So, let's go back to the middle of the night that started it all, shall we? To catch you up, I left you, Oh my Reader- at the end of the first My Chemical Romance show in Chicago on April 17th. From there, our story continues... Stumbling out of a venue after a show is always a fun experience: your clothes seem to fit a little more loosely, your body tends to be covered with more moisture than you ever thought it could hold, your legs are slightly dead, and you may or may not be throbbing from bruises and other bumps your body has collected through the course of the night. Oh, trust me – the night of April 17th was all of those things for my friends and me as we stumbled down the

With smiles and shared jokes between the band and the audience, Alkaline Trio's Columbus show seemed like a reuniting of old friends. Read my full review here . XoXo c.

My Chemical Romance parts with drummer Bob Bryar

Image
Last night, the departure of My Chemical Romance drummer Bob Byar that had been rumored was announced officially in a blog post from rhythm guitarist Frank Iero. Hello Friends, Recently it seems as though every time we write to you guys we have bad news, and we apologize for that, but we've learned in life you can't have the sweet without the sour. As a band we have been very fortunate over the years that our sweet times have greatly outweighed the sour ones, and a great deal of that is owed to you, the fans. Which is why we wanted this news to come from us and not some bullshit gossip site . As of 4 weeks ago, My Chemical Romance and Bob Bryar parted ways. This was a painful decision for all of us to make and was not taken lightly. We wish him the best of luck in his future endeavors and expect you all to do the same. We also wanted to give you all a quick heads up on how the record is progressing. We have been writing some very powerful new songs so this week the four of us
