And, knowing MCR, we'll have far more questions than answers coming our way! Stay tuned! Are My Chemical Romance going to tour?  As of today (Friday, November 8), the band have announced two shows and two festival appearances. There has been no official word on a tour, but at this juncture, it seems safe to assume more dates are to come. My Chemical Romance release first post-return full band photo

Image
This image of My Chemical Romance was captured on November 15. It is first photo released of the full band together since their return announcement on Halloween. Perhaps the gravity of this isn't coming across. Here is a photo of My Chemical Romance, an active unit of four members identified under one banner, doing the same thing in the same place for the same purpose. This isn't a circle of the four former members of MCR. This is MCR. The world makes a lot more sense these days, Killjoys. XoXo —c.

Dissecting My Chemical Romance's Return Imagery

Image
My new AltPress article explores some of the visual themes of MCR's Return. Check it out! Since My Chemical Romance ’s return announcement, the band have remained relatively quiet. We’ve gotten a couple new show and festival appearance announcements, but fans are absolutely desperate for some clue as to what else might be going on below the surface. For every big MCR moment, the band have found ways to be cryptic and keep us all guessing, so we’re taking the very few images we have available to us to try to figure out what else the band may be up to. Here are a few things we’ve discovered so far. Please take these with a grain of salt; as, MCR have proven time and again that they are five steps ahead of the world and that nothing is quite what it seems. THE STATUE The statue featured in the official “Return” imagery is not new. In fact, it has existed for more than a century in Bologna, Italy. The piece is titled “Cella Magnani” and was sculpted by Pasquale Rizzoli in 1906

Devotion: My Chemical Romance are back, and so am I!

When My Chemical Romance reunited on Halloween 2019, I was sitting in front of this familiar old friend—my blog's composition box. Having had a very slight tip-off before the reveal began to unroll, my first instinct was to run here and to prepare to tell everyone the great news. But, eventually, I navigated away. I've been contemplating why I did it the past couple days, and I've come to the conclusion that it was because I wanted to live it  this time, rather than race to record it immediately. My heart was racing like old times, my extremities were numb, I was tapping my foot restlessly and absolutely ignoring everything I ever learned about mindful breathing. Pure adrenaline. I was running on solely that, having not eaten nor drank since the night before. (I would go on not to eat or sleep for another day, but more on that later.) It physically hurt. But it was amazing, because what we'd all hoped for for the past six years was actually about to happen. And

My Chemical Romance Rumors & Responsibility

Image
I try to be very deliberate in the conversations I choose to have and encourage within the MCRmy. It's something I've taken very seriously for a very long time, as anyone who has read this blog is, no doubt, aware. So, when the internet at large, massive news outlets included, lost its collective shit about perceived changes to the My Chemical Romance website and uploads to the band's official YouTube channel, drawing a very flimsy line between what would appear to be some regular web presence housekeeping and the band's "possible reunion," it was hard to know what to say or how to address it in a significant way... There's a feeling I have about these recurrent reunion rumors that I have been grappling to understand. It makes me both roll my eyes and become pained. It's that feeling I'm going to attempt to work out in writing here, because my actual response to the rumors is simple: Are you fucking kidding me? If My Chemical Romance comes b

Gerard Way And The Hormones make surprise live debut at Warner Bros. Summer Sessions

Image
Former My Chemical Romance frontman Gerard Way  made a surprise appearance at Warner Bros. headquarters in Burbank for the final installment of their Summer Sessions concert series today performing as " Gerard Way And The Hormones ." I originally posted this story on AltPress.com on August 8, 2014 at 4:05 p.m. EDT The  pre-Reading And Leeds performance , for which Way was joined by the familiar faces of  James Dewees  and Ian Fowles from the Aquabats , was kept very quiet until the last minute, but the great thing about these sessions is that if past experience stands (which it very well might not, but we can always cross our fingers), they tend to end up online. We will keep an eye out for any available videos. In the meantime, check out social media photos and videos from the performance and soundcheck via members of the WBR staff and fans below! Sad Alien

Image
It’s been more than a year since my last entry, which I would say is inexcusable, but truthfully I have a plethora of reasons for the lack of updates. It would be impossible to maintain this blog with the fervor and time-commitment I had in 2010, and the sadness I feel admitting that is immeasurable. Sometimes the best way to describe a feeling is to give an instance of it, so I will start with this morning. Gerard Way announced that his debut solo album will be here in just a couple months! September 30! He released the tracklisting, with some of the songs we know and love, and a couple whose demos I have been cherishing for a while now. It’s all so exciting. Or it should be, and it would be normally…. But I have a new feeling when I post news about the guys’ continued art these days. It’s sadness. No, I’m not sad that it isn’t My Chemical Romance. I’m not sad to see the guys go their separate ways and pursue new things. I’m thrilled to see what they do, in fact, a
