The Summer of Bands' Discontent

Image
I am so sorry to have posted so little during my summer break. This whole “living with dial-up” problem is getting pretty brutal. But, let us forget about the slowness of my blog as-of-late, we have some serious issues to discuss. An epidemic of sorts seems to be spreading through the land of bands lately: it’s the strange virus of members’ quitting and dismissals. Bands including Against Me!, Senses Fail, and the Matches have fallen victim to this virus, and all during these spring and summer months! Is it the summer heat messing with their heads? Here are a few cases of this rapidly-spreading disease: Chiodos announced in mid-May that they were parting ways with their drummer, Derrick Frost. The band are currently on Warped Tour with a replacement drummer. Chiodos’ fellow 2009 Warped Tourmates, Senses Fail, announced that after Warped tour their guitarist, Heath would be leaving the band. Two bands that I had recently seen live have replaced a part of their live show that I witn...

Senses Fail Show Review [PART TWO] [Pictures]

As promised, I am now completing my Senses Fail review. I am sorry it took so long, but school has been dominating my life lately. Here are pictures from the show. Click Here to read my review of the show! You know you want the full story! Click the images for a larger view. The Crowd: now with 110% more testosterone! It was REALLY tough to get a shot of the whole band. Buddy knows how to make the audience (and himself) laugh. INTENSE! Keep an eye open for Part Three-- the video section! XoXo c.

Senses Fail Show Review [PART ONE]

Image
Artists: Senses Fail, The HiFi Horizon, The Promise Estate Date: March 12, 2009 Venue: The Basement: Columbus, Ohio Long-overdue is the perfect adjective for this review; I would say. I apologize for the extreme lateness, but here it is, as I promised. The day of March 12th was filled with much anticipation as I struggled through my Philosophy and Visual Communication classes, watching the clock for the moment I would be released and could be on my way to Columbus. This wasn't a show for which I needed to line up 20+ hours ahead of time, so it wasn't at all stressful when my friend and I arrived at The Basement and the entire line had already made its way into the small, crowded venue. The Basement itself isn't a place where one necessarily needs to wait a ridiculously long time in line to procure a decent spot in the crowd (to obtain tickets that have yet to be distributed; however, you BETTER be there early). See, my goal when waiting in line for a ridiculous amount of...

Senses Fail this Thursday in Columbus!

Image
Have I really, honestly, since I got my tickets months ago, not mentioned this show?! Well, I'd say there's no time like the present, especially since the show is now mere days away. On Thursday, March 12th, yours truly will be found in Columbus, Ohio at a little venue called The Basement to see Senses Fail. This by-way stop from the Saints and Sinners Tour which features Hollywood Undead, Haste the Day and Brokencyde has had me squealing excitedly for months. Between Cleveland and Cincinnati, Senses Fail will be taking a break from the Saints and Sinners line-up to play a solo show with two local Columbus bands at The Basement. Compare the size of The Basement (200 capacity) to Saints and Sinners venues (avg. 1500), and this is sure to be an intimate surprise for fans. This will not be my first time seeing Senses Fail; rather, it will be somewhere near my 8th, and the story behind the times prior is a strange one. You see, I've never really seen Senses Fail on purpose ...
