Thank You!

So, this morning I logged onto blogger, and was like, "Hm, I wonder how many hits my blog has had?" So I went to my profile and saw this: "Profile Views - 1,000" You like me? You really like me ? So, I just wanted to thank everyone who has visited and read my blog, and especially those of you who have subscribed. The most important things to the aspiring writer are the readers, so thank you, thank you, thank you! *hugs all around* XoXo c. PS: I assure that you wont regret it. It's AMAZING!

Preview MCR's New Music Video!

Exciting news from MTV today came and brought me this preview My Chemical Romance's "Desolation Row" video. Check it out!!! MTV Shows Oh, MTV, you would cover this over a month after I. The article (linked at the beginning of blog) contains a quote from MCR's Gerard Way where he says that the song plays a bigger part in the Watchmen film than I had previously thought. Whatever it is, it's toward the end, and it gave Gerard chills. I have an idea of what it may be, having read the graphic novel, but we shall see. As for this video, well let's just say that tiny clip gave me the shakes to see the full version, which, according to My Chem's website , will be available for download from iTunes tomorrow!! Seeing such a raw and aggressive video from the band really brings back the vibes of the band's early history. And that gives me chills. XoXo c.

Warped Wednesday

Image
So, I'm sitting here, miserable because the third issue of Dallas came out today and, due to Athens's SUCKING, it is not in my hands. I think to myself, "I have an entire icy day free of classes and am about to cry. What could cheer me up?" Duh. Warped Tour. I had planned on writing my Warped Tour blog earlier than this, pushed it away from my focuses, then was reminded by my blog-follower, Sarah, who posted a blog about a Warped Tour documentary. ----- There's nothing in the world quite like Warped tour, where you are likely to run into any variation of being available all while burning in the sun and watching, on your choice of several stages, the most diverse concert line-up out there. Warped tour is less of a show than an experience, a hot and sticky experience that takes place on the burning asphalt of a parking lot in the dead of summer. The mere smell of Warped Tour is unlike anything else in the world. There's no other way to describe it than the s...

My Chemical Romance Interview on XFM

Image
Yesterday, British radio station, XFM , premiered MCR's "Desolation Row," and followed today with a wonderful interview with My Chem's lead-guitarist, Ray Toro. The guitarist commented on his watching VH1's "Confessions of a Teen Idol" and expressed concern that the band, while on break, would become like the miserable subjects of that show. So, does this mean he will be compelled to stop sitting around and watching TV to get busy with the band? Toro said that the band had begun "early discussions" and did some "preliminary writing" recently. He says that the band are focused on "having a good time" at this point, but they will be getting together in February to begin seriously plotting the next album. He also had this to say to fans: "Thanks to them for continuing to listen, and we really appreciate that. I know we've been off for a while and we're definitely going to come back soon. I mean, we can't wait....

Lyrics of the Week: Desolation Row

Image
In honor of Bob Dylan's epic song that was covered by MCR for the end-credits of Watchmen , this week's lyrics definitely had to be "Desolation Row". The MCR version of this song is far from the original, and very scaled down with less than half of these original lyrics, but these are great words, so -for those of you who only know the MCR version of this song- take a look at some of the great lyrics that were left out. Desolation Row Bob Dylan They're selling postcards of the hanging They're painting the passports brown The beauty parlor is filled with sailors The circus is in town Here comes the blind commissioner They've got him in a trance One hand is tied to the tight-rope walker The other is in his pants And the riot squad they're restless They need somewhere to go As Lady and I look out tonight From Desolation Row Cinderella, she seems so easy "It takes one to know one," she smiles And puts her hands in her back pockets Bette Davi...

MY WATCHMEN VINYL: The Perks of Pre-Ordering from WBR!

Image
Look what Cassie just got in the mail: Side A: Side B: That, my droogies, is my limited edition Watchmen vinyl that came three days early and which you can still order here ! Now that you've seen it, you know you want it, right? This happy occasion brings me to something I feel everyone should know. Lean in, a little closer-- okay. If you pre-order, there's a chance you'll get things early. Shocking, right? Every time I have pre-ordered a My Chemical Romance CD/ anything it has gotten to me at least a day before the release date, which is always a joyous moment just as my moment with my Watchmen vinyl was. So, pre-order often and live a happier life. I'm off to try to find a record player somewhere on campus. XoXo c.

"XO"- LeATHERMOUTH

Image
Most of you who have any sort of attraction to my blog, will already know that Leathermouth is My Chemical Romance rhythm guitarist, Frank Iero's, side project. There's enough back-story to the release of this CD that I feel I need to digress in time to best describe it. A long-ass time ago, we My Chem fans started getting wind of Leathermouth: this band shrouded in mystery, always turning their backs in photographs or wearing masks. What were these guys hiding from the public? We soon found that it was a secret weapon in a 5'4" package about to be unleashed upon the world-- Frank Iero needed somewhere to let shit out, and thus Leathermouth lived. Demos of Leathermouth songs started cropping up on purevolume and random seedy websites, where they were abruptly downloaded at first by those who were interested in Frank Iero's musical pursuit and members of the Skeleton Crew family, then by others in the hardcore scene who caught on and realized something along the li...

My Chemical Romance Ending Hiatus?

Image
A text message arrived to me late last night: --- Message From Twitter: gerardway: Epic blog! Heading to a recording studio... --- Now this could mean a couple things: Gerard is messing with the fans (see his Tweet about shaving his head and the chaos that surrounded it for example) or he, as is by now historically predicted of him, has blabbed something he was not supposed to blab. My money is going on the latter. My Chemical Romance , after the Madison Square Garden stop of their 2008 US tour in May, went into hiatus mode, not giving any definite date for the end of their off-road hibernation. They just needed time to "live," as they said, which is more than understandable for a band that had spent nearly 4 years straight on the road. But, of course, the guys didn't stay away from their passions. Frank Iero has been diligently working toward the release of his side-project, Leathermouth's, coming debut "XO" (January 27th, Epitaph Records) and touring with...

Pre-Order Watchmen Vinyl

Image
Beautiful, isn't it? That 12", my friends, is what I just pre-ordered from the My Chemical Romance online store for a mere $11.99 ($16.52 with shipping). That price is a true bargain for the following reasons: °There will only be 3,000 copies of this special edition vinyl. °It comes with artwork from the film. °Epicosity factor = 4,000,000,000 The 12" picture disk has two sides and two tracks. Side A is My Chemical Romance's cover of "Desolation Row" while Side B contains the track "Prison Fight" another from the score of the movie. You honestly can't pass this one up, can you? Pre-order Here! If you don't want to pre-order, you can also wait until January 27th, when the vinyl will be released, but why would you do that when it's on sale now? Do as I say and as I do, readers. XoXo c.

Bands + Auctioning Epic Stuff on eBay = A Great Way to Support a Good Cause!

Often, bands like to give back, and a couple of my favorites are doing so this week by offering up sweet things on eBay. Please check out these auctions: • Rock Legends Autographed Guitar for Charity This is a Fender guitar signed by members of Alkaline Trio, Rise Against, T.S.O.L, The Gaslight. Anthem, and many more. Proceeds go to Wheels for Humanity . The bid as of my posting time is only $305.00, which is very reasonable for the value of the item. • Umbrella Academy with Original Sketch by Gerard Way A special edition hardback trade-issue of the first series of Gerard Way of My Chemical Romance's comic, The Umbrella Academy . It comes with an original sketch (NOT A REPRINT) of the comic's character Spaceboy. Very few people can say they own an original piece of Gerard Way's art, so this is something that is hard to pass up. The auction benefits a friend of the artist who has been diagnosed with cancer. The money will go toward making her home wheelchair accessible. T...

"I Brought You My Bullets, You Brought Me Your Love" - MCR On Vinyl!

My Chemical Romance's former record label, Eyeball Records is set to release the band's debut album on vinyl February 3rd. Like the recent vinyl for the band's "Three Cheers for Sweet Revenge" ( Warner-Reprise ), this vinyl will be printed on what the website describes as "Fiery Red Vinyl," but a select amount will be issued in on white vinyl. You can check out product information by clicking here. As for that "Three Cheers for Sweet Revenge" vinyl, go buy it now if you haven't already! I mean, RIGHT NOW! It comes with an MCR sticker, a stencil, and reprints of original, handwritten lyrics to "...Revenge" songs, which is my favorite part. Plus, it's on transparent, bright red vinyl, and looks really sweet when you play it. See: You can still order the "...Revenge" vinyl from MCR's online store, just click here. XoXo c.

EXCLUSIVE Watchmen Update: More "Desolation Row"

Image
"Gerard and the boys were very cool. This was my first time meeting and working with MCR. I had a blast!" -Joy When Joy Villa of Los Angeles (pictured right with Gerard Way) posted a casting call notification she had received in mid-December on her Myspace blog, a few My Chemical Romance fans got a chance of their lifetimes! A video was being shot for a new My Chem video in support of the upcoming movie release of The Watchmen , and punk-rocker extras were needed! "Two of my new friends came down from up north just to come to the video shoot," Villa, an aspiring model, actress, and singer said. The two friends to whom she is referring came all the way from Washington and Canada, showing just how dedicated MCR fans are, and I'm sure there were others who traveled even farther for the opportunity. Had I known about it, I would have drug myself from Ohio without hesitation. The extras auditioning for the part were to dress in period-correct '80s punk garb, lo...

What I Listened to in 2008

Image
I have mentioned Last.Fm previously in my blog , and I'm about to mention it again, and show you one of the awesome things it can do. It is human nature to document our lives, I learned last week in Visual Communication class, and last.fm is the perfect way to document one's musical life. On the first day of 2009, I did a screen capture of my last 12 months of listening as documented by last.fm, and it gave me an overview of what kind of person I was musically in 2008. It's a little blurry, so I'll translate it for you: I listened to a LOT of My Chemical Romance, about half as much Alkaline Trio, got really into Billy Talent and Drive-By after having seen them live, and kept it old-school quite a bit. XX Teens, Amanda Palmer, and Anthony Green had the only new releases that I liked. 2008, I feel, was a sad year for music, so I'm looking forward to 2009 immensely. EDIT: That thing that appears to say "Wall Skye" is actually "Matt Skiba"-- but if ...

Watchmen Update: "Desolation Row"!

Source: Kerrang! My Chemical Romance will release their cover of the Bob Dylan classic, Desolation Row' on February 9 through Warner Bros. The song is taken from the soundtrack to the upcoming big screen adaptation of Alan Moore and Dave Gibbons' cult comic book series The Watchmen. The track will be released as a digital download and as a limited edition 12" vinyl. The 12" will be limited to just 3,000 copies and will be backed with an extract from the film's score. In related news, the full film soundtrack will be released in the UK on February 23 while the with the film itself will follow on March 6. You lucky English, you. I will keep an eye out for definite US news on the single. Brits tend to get everything a day earlier than us. XoXo c.

Taking Back Sunday and Envy On The Coast [Part Three] (Pictures)

Image
Finally, my internet is fast enough to give thought to posting pictures. So, here are a few from the Taking Back Sunday show on December 12th in Louisville, KY. Read Part One of my TBS/EOTC blogs here Read Part Two of my TBS/EOTC blogs here I apologize for the quality of these pictures, as; they were taken old-school style with a Kodak disposable camera. Ha-ha! I'm very old school, as you know. Adam appearing to be falling. Adam doing the old sing-and-dance while Fazzi does the old sing-and-guitar. My scanner cut off the poor guy's head. Adam hiding his face. The Matts- Fazzi and Rubano Eddie offering the dehydrated mass in front of him water. A bad-quality picture of Adam that I felt I needed to upload, because he's looking at my camera. Adam aaaaannnddd... Adam again. Those are only a few of the pictures that I took, but most were far too awful to put up here. The venue's lights were behind the band-- no spotlights, so the lighting was pretty unfortunate for camera-w...

Watchmen Update [New My Chemical Romance Video]!

Image
As you guys know from my expressing it in previous blogs, I am very excited for The Watchmen movie, but I am also almost equally excited for the soundtrack. But, first thing is first: the movie. Many people have been asking about its release date. Despite court controversy between WB and Fox ( read ), WB still intends to release the movie on the originally scheduled date of March 6th. Whether this will remain so, we have yet to see, but I want to talk about tunes, as always. The soundtrack for The Watchmen movie is scheduled for release on February 24th , and will feature My Chemical Romance's cover of Bob Dylan's "Desolation Row". Those of you who have read the graphic novel will know that this song is quoted at the end of a chapter. My Chem were asked to record the song for the film's closing credits. So, you know I'll be the one in the theatre lingering behind for the credits. A couple weeks ago, the band recorded a video for the song. Those around the...

Happy new year, everyone! I feel it's only appropriate that I post lyrics from Thursday's "Jet Black New Year" on this special occasion. Ten seconds left until midnight nine chances to drown ourselves in black hair dye eight faces turned away from the shock seven windows and six of them were locked five stories falling 4 ever and ever three cheers to the mirror now there are two of us can we have one last dance? Be sure to check out Thursday on this year's Taste of Chaos tour! They never disappoint live. XoXo c.
